The chaser - Taff Ruff E Nuff(NZ) "Butkus" (Griffon)- To Guinness, this is just great fun but to Butkus, This is serious stuff!!]

We are located about an hour west of Brisbane, on a beautiful 15 acre property set amongst the bush.  Apart from our wonderful dogs, we also have a goat "Nanny Fran" & a sheep "Holmes" who both think that they are dogs, 2 geese ("CusKo" & "Kronk") and our magnificent Peacocks (Bill & Ben). Oh, and I almost forgot Bandit - the light of my husband's life!!! - but you have to ask him about that!

We have been involved with breeding and exhibiting Terriers for well over 20 years. Actually longer, as my parents (Foxadine & Foxcrag Kennels) started Breeding/Showing Smooth Fox Terriers when I was only a toddler.  So really, I have been involved with showing and breeding dogs all my life.  My husband and I together started out with Smooth Fox Terriers under the Prefix of "Swiftfox". But we felt we needed a bit of the luck of the Irish, so we purchased our first Kerry Blue in 1992, Aust Ch Pharno Bluesky Mine "Boots".

We had always admired Kerrys from a distance, but after living with one, our admiration changed to love. Now our household will never be without them.  Boots fell in love with our last old Smooth Fox Terrier girl (Ch Foxcrag Sutory "Tory") and they were never apart - [see them in their old age glory on our "A Little About Kerries" Page]. When she passed on, he was never the same.  He tried to fill her place in the home by doing things that she would do, but he never got over her.  Our other Kerrys could never fill her spot in his heart.  He passed away less than 12 months later.

When we finally decided to breed this fantastic breed, we felt that we needed a new prefix.  Something that was uniquely Kerrys and uniquely us.  So this is why the OLIZURE prefix was born in 2000.  OLI from Oliphant and ZURE as in Azure (a shade of blue).  Since this time, we have been devoted to Kerry Blues and what started out as owning one Kerry, has grown into a life long passion for the breed.

Our first import, Aust Gr Ch Blueprint Pure Blue (Imp NZ) "Austin", made the short journey from New Zealand in early 2000.  Both his parents had been imported to NZ from Ireland and their pedigrees contained very sort after lines that we were very pleased to be able to add to our own.  We campaigned "Austin" to his Grand Championship title and he was a multi Best In Show Winner as well as a 2003 & 2006 Queensland Dog of the Year Qualifier.  He also blessed our kennel with 2 beautiful daughters, Teah "Aust Ch Olizure Celtic Charm" (from our "Charmed" Litter) & Ivy (from Sacrebleu Kennels WA). See more details of Austin's legacy on our "Foundation Page" - this is a tribute to our wonderful boy, Austin.

Even though we owned Kerrys before Austin, he is the main foundation and focus of our lines.  He has passed onto his kids his wonderful strong hindquarters, lay of shoulder as well as beautiful flowing movement - and not to mention his love of people and life in general.

Thanks to Irene and her boy "Shamrock" Ch Dallaroo Shamrock Boy, we were able to have a wonderful & successful litter with Teah (the "Like" Litter), where we kept a dog & a bitch puppy (Guinness & KodaJo).  We started to campaign these two kids (Austin's Grandchildren) Gr Ch Olizure Lieka Pint "Guinness"  & Ch Olizure Lieca Diva "KodaJo" early in 2006 with great excitment.

Guinness' career to date speaks for itself - Multi Best In Terrier Specialty Show winner, Multi-Best In Show (All Breeds - Champ) winner, Multi Royal Group 1st winner, many Age classes In Show & Royal Age classes winner (including Baby in Show - Toowoomba Royal 2006 & Puppy In Group - Brisbane Royal 2006) as well as 2006 Qld Puppy of the Year Qualifier (& in the top 10 Qld Puppy in this competition).  But his Best achievment while he was with us was Runner Up Qld Dog of the Year 2008 (All Breeds) winner. Some of these wins were under Terrier and Kerry Blue Terrier Specialists. Guinness is now living and co-owned with Dean Freshwater in Sydney, and they are having much success together.  To date Guinness has won 9 x Royal Best of Breed wins, against strong competition.

And not to be outdone, KodaJo also had much success in the showring with very limited showing - she is a Multi Minor Puppy In Show winner & also a 2006 Qld Puppy of the Year Qualifier.  After a very short time in the ring, KodaJo achieved her Austrailian Title and now prefers to stay at home on the farm. KodaJo had her first litter, (the "Smoke" Litter) in mid 2008 in which a beautiful boy "Paddy" Aust Ch Olizure Smokin Jo, is being campaigned in WA.  KodaJo's second litter (the "Kiss" litter) was produced at the end of 2009.  This litter was sired by our own lovely boy, Smith and we have kept a beautiful boy and girl, Willis "Olizure Kiss Me Thrill Me" & Willow "Olizure Kiss Me Quick" from this litter.  We have high hopes for these youngsters, and at their first shows, between the 2 of them, they won 3 x Baby In Shows (All Breeds). The future looks promising for them both.

Our WA addition - thanks to Liz & Neridah (WA), is "Ivy" Aust Ch Sacrebleu Pureprint Blu, the other daughter of Austin's.  She just loves the show, but unfortunately she hates all the fuss with grooming and as such, after achieving her Aust Championship title, she is now retired from the ring and just enjoys life on the farm with us.  She has also just become a mum of 7 beautiful babies by Guinness and as they say - Watch this Space..... From this litter (the "Devil" litter), we kept "Smith" Ch Olizure Betta ThDevil Uknow and we sent the beautiful girl "Maeve" Olizure Devil May Care, to Tasmania to live with Irene and her kerry Shamrock (Guinness & KodaJo's father).

We also have a love for our little - Kerry 'Wunna Bes' - in the form of Griffons. They are a loving addition to our home and certainly know how to keep the Kerrys in their places.  Our first Griffon was Butkus (03-08) and even though he was meant to be a showdog, he didn't read that part of his contract, and as such, he was much happier being the family clown and mischief maker, as well as the one that kept the baby Kerrys in line.  The kerrys always looked up to "Uncle But", even if it was from above him.  Guinness thought of Uncle But as his best mate (see pic above) - so much for the "terrible nature of a Kerry". Then Flirt came along as a friend for Butty.  Unfortunately - she mainly has eyes for Guinness (he must be a very sexy dog as she just can't stay away from him), not that that worried Butkus very much, as I am sure he thought that she was only there to keep him extra warm at night time.  Just recently, Flirt has been joined by Diesel, a beautiful Smooth boy.  He is "on loan" to us and we will be campaigning him on behalf of our good friend Shane, so fingers crossed that he does well for us and we get to keep him on loan for a long time. LOL.

And then came Widget.... we came home from a dogshow one weekend, and she had moved in. After many posters, letter box drops and phone calls, we were unable to find out anything of her past.  She was in a terrible state, and after a good bath, haircut, meal and a bit of medicine, she has taken up residence at the Olizure Farm.  She appears to be a Chinese Crested X, and has a few "issues" that we are working through together, but on the whole, she is very loving and has become a very special part of lives. Widget pics are in our Photo Album.

Griffons (and our little crossbred) have fitted in very well with our home of Kerrys and we now could not be without them.  Unfortunately Butkus was taken from us way too early, but he will always have a very special place in our hearts.  And it is thanks to him, that we truly love this breed as well as our Kerrys.  Even though we do love the Griffs, we have no plans to breed them, and leave that part up to our friends.  We feel that we can only put in the necessary time and research into one breed in order to breed quality dogs and our first love is our Kerrys.  We spend enormous time researching pedigrees and bloodlines before each litter of Kerrys that we have.  I think this is shown in the quality of Kerrys that we have bred in the past (for both show and home).

As our "Fur Kidz" Kerry family continues to grow, we realise why we love this great breed.  They are just great fun to have around at home and become little showmen when they are in the ring.  We are here for the long term, and our dream is to breed, groom, love and live with, Kerrys that are true to both temperament and type.  We have a very focused breeding program in which we combine the best of both International and Australian Bloodlines and we only breed very occassionly and all puppies are raised as part of our family - as that is what they are - our family.  Even if they leave us to go to their new homes, they are still apart of ours and are always welcomed as such.
